As the title to our blog indicates our adventure starts in Kenya. Sahra and I arrive in Kenya on 1 February 2010 and will spend three weeks in Nakuru- the provincial capital of the Rift Valley province and the fourth largest city in Kenya. While in Nakuru we will be volunteering with Mission in Action (MIA). MIA is dedicated to looking after children at the Nakuru Baby Orphanage and endeavours to raise the children in a loving, safe, family environment offering education and opportunities to become productive members of their community. Anybody can volunteer with MIA for a maximum period of 4 weeks.
On 21 February 2010 we depart MIA and join a tour of Southern Africa which includes visiting Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. Our time in Southern Africa concludes with 1 week in Capetown-South Africa.
On 16 April 2010 we depart Southern Africa for Europe where we spend time in Paris-France before walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. The Camino de Santiago (the Way of St. James) is a large network of ancient pilgrim routes stretching across Europe and coming together at the tomb of St. James (Santiago in Spanish) in Santiago de Compostela in north-west Spain. The most popular route is the Camino Francés which stretches 780 km. (nearly 500 miles) from St. Jean-Pied-du-Port near Biarritz in France to Santiago.
Finally on 16 June 2010 we travel to South America where we will visit Brazil followed by Ecuador, Peru (including Cusco), Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. The exact details of our trip in South America are yet to be determined. We are due back in Australia on 16 August 2010.

ReplyDeleteMay I love this day and all that it brings
The dust, stones or mud beneath my feet
The air I breathe, food I eat, water I drink
May I open my heart to mysteries along the way Greet fellow pilgrims with welcome and grace Move lightly and simply through the day
May I give thanks for the Earth, our fragile home for all those who have gone before me and for all who will follow ... I am not alone
I love your face sahra!! Classic! You guys are such troppers and im sure you are having an amazing time despite the weather and your feet! So proud of you both! Keep on trucking Carrie xxx
ReplyDeleteWe are pilgrims on a journey,
ReplyDeleteWe are travelers on the road;
We are here to help each other
Walk the mile and bear the load.
I will weep when you are weeping;
When you laugh I'll laugh with you.
I will share your joy and sorrow
'Til we've seen this journey through.
